Sustainable control of the European grapevine moth in Georgia
January 15, 2026

The FAO's Mating Disruption Programme, funded by the European Union and Sweden, supports Georgian viticulture. It reduces pest damage and enhances grape quality and food safety through pheromone-based pest control and sustainable vineyard practices.

This initiative helps wineries significantly cut chemical pesticide use, advance organic production, and strengthen environmental sustainability. It demonstrates how science-based solutions boost the long-term competitiveness of Georgia’s wine sector.
