Rural women in Tajikistan
February 27, 2026

Rural women in Tajikistan constitute nearly 60% of the agricultural workforce, performing vital tasks. Despite this, many work informally, lacking recognition, resources, training, and decision-making power. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) empowers these women by strengthening skills, improving resource access, and promoting fair recognition, fostering more productive farms, stronger families, and resilient agrifood systems.
