Apprendre à nager aux récolteuses d’huîtres gambiennes
February 27, 2026

FISH4ACP's swimming program, led by the Gambian Navy, taught oyster harvesters in The Gambia to swim. This initiative helped them overcome their fear of drowning and made the oyster sector more appealing to other women.

In The Gambia, FISH4ACP aims to boost the mangrove oyster value chain's productivity and competitiveness. This improves food security and rural incomes, ensuring economic gains align with environmental sustainability and social integration.

FISH4ACP is an initiative of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS), implemented by [FAO](http://www.fao.org) and funded by the EU and BMZ. It promotes sustainable fisheries and aquaculture across Africa, the Caribbean, and the Pacific. Learn more about [FISH4ACP](https://www.fao.org/fish4acp/fr).
