The women behind Taw Win Thazin rice noodles in rural Myanmar
February 22, 2026

This video tells the inspiring story of Maw Maw Hmwe and women farmers in Myanmar's Magway Region. Facing climate challenges, they transformed their livelihoods by establishing the Taw Win Thazin rice noodle enterprise. Supported by an FAO women’s savings and credit group, they added value to local rice, creating sustainable income.

Through improved access to finance, training, and machinery, these women are building resilience and strengthening local food systems. Their women-led business demonstrates how communities and hope can be nourished, even in times of crisis, fostering financial stability for families like Maw Maw's.
