Non-Duality and the Mystery of Consciousness by Peter Russell

What is non-duality? What do we mean by consciousness? Does it really exist? What is reality? Is there any thing "out there"? Why don't we see consciousness in the material world? What do we mean by "I"? Why is any of this important? From the deep pools of Eastern wisdom, to the fast-paced rapids of the West, Peter Russell has mastered many fields, and synthesized them with consummate artistry. Weaving his unique blend of scientific rationale, global vision, and intuitive wisdom, Peter brings a sharp, critical mind to the challenge of self-awakening. The next great frontier of human exploration, he shows, is not outer space, but inner space — the development of the human mind. He has degrees in theoretical physics, experimental psychology, and computer science from the University of Cambridge in England, and has written ten books in this area, including The Global Brain Awakens, Waking Up in Time, and most recently, From Science to God: A Physicist’s Journey into the Mystery of Consciousness.

What Do You Do With Your Time? by Isabel Rimanoczy

TEDx Talks Published on Apr 8, 2016| TEDxNSU

What if we were tasked with making a difference, so that our time on this planet leaves it better than we found it? What if we were tasked with making a difference, so that our time on this planet leaves it better than we found it? This thought launched me into a new career as a Legacy Coach working with people who want to make a difference. I researched leaders who champion initiatives that have made a positive impact on the world, hoping to find ways to actively develop a new generation of responsible, purposeful leaders.

I call it the “sustainability mindset in action.” Isabel Rimanoczy’s life purpose is to develop change accelerators. Aware of the complex challenges we and our planet are facing, she works alongside those who can make a large-scale impact. Rimanoczy, Ed.D., developed the Sustainability Mindset, a concept she researched by studying business leaders who champion corporate initiatives with a positive impact on the environment and the community.

She is also the author of several books, including Big Bang Being: Developing the Sustainability Mindset, and has published over 140 articles and book chapters. Rimanoczy blogs for the Huffington Post and has just published her newest book, coedited with Keru Kassal available from Amazon. Click on book icon to order.

Active Hope by Joanne Macy

'Active Hope," is the title of a new book by Joanna Macy and Chris Johnstone. In it, they eschew feel good denial, cynical disengagement and baseless optimism. In this talk, Macy summarized their message. As Macy and Johnstone wisely acknowledge, there are no comforting certainties involved in opting to work for change with ‘active hope:’ “…there are no guarantees that we’ll be able to turn things far or fast enough to safeguard our civilization, or indeed, to ensure the continued existence of conscious life on Earth. We will probably not know in our lifetimes whether we are serving as deathbed attendants to a dying world or as midwives to the next stage of human evolution.” But, act we must on the issues we care about. Taking their lead from Joanna Macy and Chris Johnstone's new book Active Hope, Cynthia Papermaster and Harvey Wasserman organized this evening of multi-issue presentations, Januare 10, 2016 at the Berkeley Fellowship of Unitarian Universalists.
