The E
llen MacArthur Foundation is an independent charity with the aim of inspiring a generation to re-think, re-design & build a positive future through the vision of a circular economy. Ellen MacArthur fou
nded the Foundation to better understand how on land too we rely on finite resources in the form of materials, energy and water after her experiences as a world class sailor having sailed over 26,000 miles to become the fastest person to circumnavigate the globe single-handed.
The Circular Economy 100 is a global platform bringing together leading companies, emerging innovators and regions to accelerate the transition to a circular economy over a 1000-day (3 year) period. The Annual Summit was held Wednesday 19 June 2013.

More plastic than fish in ocean by 2050? | Ellen MacArthur Foundation x Breaking the Plastic Wave |
| July 24, 2020 Dame Ellen MacArthur urges "bold and urgent action" to address plastic pollution. A 2020 study, "Breaking the Plastic Wave," by The Pew Charitable Trusts and SYSTEMIQ, reveals a grim forecast: without intervention, by 2040, plastic on the market will double, annual ocean entry will almost triple, and ocean stocks will quadruple. This echoes the Ellen MacArthur Foundation's 2016 warning of more plastic than fish by 2050. The study confirms a circular economy for plastic is the only way to tackle waste at its source. This vision already unites over 850 organizations. Find out more here. EarthSayer Dame Ellen MacArthur |
