The film traces his journey from childhood in Omaha, Nebraska, through his leadership in the American Indian Movement, and his subsequent rebirth as a musician and spoken word poet following the tragic death of his wife in a suspected arson fire. Directed and produced by Heather Rae over more than a decade, "Trudell" aired nationally on PBS's Independent Lens series on April 11, 2006.
