Will circularity create high quality jobs for all? | DIF 2019
November 11, 2019
The transition to the circular economy presents an exciting opportunity to redesign roles and create jobs in different sectors and areas of society. But whether circular jobs are inherently better than jobs in linear sectors remains to be seen. As the resource management sector continues to grow in the circular economy, how can we ensure that the jobs this creates are high quality jobs, rather than dirty work? In the face of new business models and technological advancement, how can the circular economy create jobs for both high and low skilled workers? The transition to the circular economy constitutes a systemic shift across sectors, geographies and demographics. What role should public and private actors play in ensuring the circular labour market is an inclusive one? Circle Economy is working to secure a positive transition to circularity for work and workers. In this session, Circle Economy will moderate a discussion between three experts and the DIF audience to explore these questions and more.
