Ellen MacArthur Foundation food initiative
May 02, 2020

Transforming our food system is the most impactful action we can take to address climate change, restore biodiversity, and improve human health. Cities are central to this effort, as they will consume 80% of food by 2050. Adopting circular economy principles within urban environments offers the power to reshape how we produce and consume food.

This involves growing food regeneratively, sourcing locally, eliminating edible waste, and using organic by-products to enrich soil. While ambitious, this profound challenge promises to avert a climate crisis, restore ecosystems, enhance public health, and create new business opportunities. The Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s Food initiative actively brings together key players to drive this essential transition.
