The goal is to create products, processes, and policies—new ways of living—that are well-adapted to life on earth over the long haul. The core idea is that nature has already solved many of the problems we are grappling with. Animals, plants, and microbes are the consummate engineers. Join award-winning photographer and National Geographic Explorer Stephen Alvarez as he discusses his latest book, Rock Art: An American Story. This work documents ancient petroglyphs, pictographs, and earthworks across North America, showcasing sites over 15,000 years old. Collaborating with Indigenous tribes such as the Chickasaw, Choctaw, Ute, Navajo, and Shawnee, Alvarez emphasizes the connection between humans and the natural world.

We will explore how ancient ecological knowledge can enhance our understanding of biodiversity and climate interactions. Alvarez, founder of the Ancient Art Archive, has been featured in National Geographic, Time Magazine, and more.
