Pro-athletes are entertainers, and their definition of health differs from the average person's. Our bodies constantly expend significant energy just to function; for instance, about 1,400 calories daily are used simply to keep us alive. This inherent energy cost, a legacy from ancestors who conserved energy for survival, explains our natural tendency to avoid unnecessary physical activity, even with modern access to food.
