“The Journey” represents the spiritual work Native peoples undertake to transform painful experiences into meaning and purpose. A powerful manifestation of this is the Canoe Journey.

Since 1989, Northwest Coastal Indians have participated in the Canoe Journey, traveling to villages along the ancestral highways of the Salish Sea. This spiritual commitment requires participants to be free from alcohol and drugs, offering profound healing for individuals, families, and tribes, especially those in recovery.
