Mary Nichols, a climate champion, spent 45 years as an environmental regulator, called "Trump's nemesis" and "most influential." As Chair of the California Air Resources Board, she advanced climate action, limited emissions, and engaged automakers. Praised for cutting greenhouse gases, she also faced criticism for polluter leniency and insufficient action for disadvantaged communities.

Join Mary Nichols and Climate One's Greg Dalton to discuss her storied career and California's climate leadership, from Governors Schwarzenegger to Newsom. We'll explore the future of state and national climate agendas in 2021. This program is generously underwritten by the ClimateWorks Foundation.

California boasts a 150-year legacy of environmental leadership, protecting wilderness, restricting oil drilling, regulating emissions, and boosting energy efficiency. Its foresight was recognized in the 1963 Clean Air Act, granting a waiver for stricter state standards—a tool still vital today in challenging national CAFE standard changes.

Explore California's pioneering environmental policy, examining its successes and challenges. The state has committed to 100% zero-carbon electricity and carbon neutrality by 2045. Experts, including John Hofmeister (Shell), Bob Holycross (Ford), and Mary Nichols (CARB), will discuss this bold move for the world's fifth-largest economy. Learn more at https://climateone.org/.
