The panel “Climate Finance for Climate Justice” was held on Monday, June 23rd, during the Global Women’s Assembly for Climate Justice: Path to COP30 and Beyond hosted by Women’s Earth and Climate Network (WECAN), June 23-28, 2025.

Organized by the Women’s Earth and Climate Network (WECAN), the Global Women’s Assembly for Climate Justice: Path to COP30 and Beyond brought together over 125 grassroots and frontline women leaders in all their diversity, global advocates, thought leaders, and policymakers representing 50 countries from around the world. During 25 unique panels, speakers showcased a diverse array of visions, projects, policy frameworks, campaigns, and movement strategies with which we can accelerate a bold and transformative path to a healthy and just world.

A recent survey by the Pew Research Center finds that, in general, highly religious Americans are less likely to express concern about climate change. But the research also shows that young religious adults, including evangelical Protestants under 30, are much more likely than older people in those same religious groups to say that human activity is warming the planet and that global climate change is a serious problem. And, on college campuses across the United States, there are now Christian, Jewish, Muslim and other religious groups urging collective action to cut carbon emissions.

On April 26, 2023, we hosted a panel discussion with young Americans from a variety of religious backgrounds. They will discuss how their religious commitments mesh with their campus activism, share stories about how they came to their current views, and talk about the impact they have had – or hope to have – on older Americans inside and outside their own religious traditions.

They have performed with nationally-acclaimed artists for social change including Rising Appalachia, Climbing PoeTree and MaMuse. They also frequently share the stage with progressive leaders, including Bernie Sanders, Ericka Huggins, Joanna Macy, and Fania Davis. Their music has inspired thousands at marches, conferences and festivals across California. Wildchoir spent its first years as the musical voice of Thrive East Bay and the global Thrive Network, and it is forever grateful to the Thrive Network for all its support and collaboration, but it is thrilled to be beginning a new phase of its musical journey as an independent ensemble.

By working together, we can change how power and privilege it is allocated, we can design societies that are free, democratic and support everybody on the planet to flourish.
