The National Agricultural Olympiad (NAO) assesses knowledge, identifies talent, and promotes achievements across vital agricultural disciplines, including agronomy, food technology, and veterinary medicine. It serves as Georgia's unique platform for professional knowledge evaluation and recognizing informal education, promoting the sector and raising youth awareness of agriculture and environmental protection.

Organized since 2021 by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) with support from Georgia's Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture (MEPA) and the Austrian Development Agency (ADA), the NAO's concept was developed by the Agricultural Development Association, with EIEC of MEPA as a partner.

With nearly a third of global food production lost or wasted annually, the FAO supports solutions for resilient, equitable food systems. A key strategy involves short distribution circuits, connecting producers and consumers to encourage sustainable consumption.

In Tunisia, FAO aids Tunis and La Goulette municipalities in a strategy to prevent, reduce, and manage food loss. This includes a sustainable short distribution circuit, valorizing unsold produce via solar drying, vacuum packaging, and composting, alongside practical demonstrations.

The "Youth Innovations for a Better Food Future" event, held in Thai Nguyen, Viet Nam, celebrated World Food Day 2025 and FAO’s 80th anniversary. It focused on youth-led solutions for sustainable agrifood systems.

Highlights included an Intergenerational Dialogue on climate resilience and food loss, and a Student Innovation Competition where six teams proposed solutions to reduce food waste. The FAO-supported BIOREST project is providing organic beekeeping training across Tunisia.
