What We Are Doing Is for World Peace by Grandma Marie Alice

Grandmother Maria Alice Campos Freire, born in Brazil, endured war and persecution from a young age. At 17, she was imprisoned and tortured while pregnant. After becoming a political refugee in Europe and Africa, she received amnesty to return to Brazil, where she led a spiritual community deep within the Amazon Rainforest. She shares insights into the Grandmothers and their vital mission.

Professor Cornel Pewewardy, a traditional Comanche-Kiowa elder, directs Indigenous Nations Studies at Portland State University. He addresses the detrimental impact of conventional education on indigenous culture and language.

Pewewardy advocates for "re-traditionalization," a tribal approach to education designed to counteract these negative effects. He presented these ideas on February 11, 2011, in Portland, Oregon.

Erick Gonzalez, a Guatemalan teacher and healer, will discuss Mayan prophecies for 2012 and beyond. He will present these prophecies based on ancient indigenous teachings, contrasting them with popular Hollywood interpretations.

Gonzalez previously spoke in Portland, Oregon, on December 2, 2011. This event was part of "The Natural Way: Indigenous Voices," organized by the Earth & Spirit Council.
