The Center is under attack AGAIN.

The Center for Biological Diversity is again under attack. Far-right congressmen on the House Resources Committee have launched a baseless "investigation" against us for protecting the Arctic and polar bears from an oil conglomerate. Our Executive Director, Kierán, denounced this as a weaponization of government power, a smear tactic by oil-funded politicians to silence environmental advocates.

This "investigation" is a politically motivated witch hunt, devoid of legal merit and making absurd accusations. To combat this antidemocratic power-mongering and defend our critical work, we've established the Freedom Defense Fund. Your support is crucial to our survival against these persistent threats. Please donate today, or consider a monthly contribution to sustain our defense.

AI & Climate: Sorting Signal from Noise — Living Between Worlds 7.2

Welcome to Living Between Worlds 7.2, featuring special guest Marshall Kirkpatrick in a groundbreaking exploration of AI's relationship with climate and energy. (And the reveal of a powerful research tool for navigating complexity.) At a moment when data center construction is the only thing keeping the US economy afloat, when AI energy appetite surges unchecked, and when design decisions being made right now will determine whether AI accelerates the climate crisis or helps solve it, this call brought rigorous analysis, competing perspectives, and deep philosophical inquiry into productive conversation. Guided by Marshall's "What's Up With That" browser plugin (which you can download for Chrome/Vivaldi at https://bit.ly/4r0Ze5x and for Firefox at https://bit.ly/4kSlZXI), we navigated the complex, contested territory where artificial intelligence meets planetary survival—examining competing claims, energy realities, technological possibilities, and the fundamental questions of care, purpose, and what it means to be human in an age of intelligent machines. We ended, as we always do with Brandi Carlile's reminder: "You can dance in a hurricane, but only if you're standing in the eye." Check it out! And let us know in the comments what this conversation provoked for you—and let us know what you'll do about it! (Also, please "like" and "subscribe"! YouTube is much nicer to us when you do.) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This call is part of Living Between Worlds—with Courage, Dignity, and Power (a monthly "conversation for possibility" exploring how to live and work together in times of tumultuous change). Join us next time, on the third Wednesday of every month from 12:00-1:30pm Pacific time. Register at https://bit.ly/LivingBetweenWorlds. Who joins these conversations? Executives. How we deploy Interceptors in the most polluting rivers in 5 steps

Green Jobs: Empowering Palestinian Youth

Palestinian youth, especially young women, face alarmingly high unemployment and poverty. Limited job opportunities and a mismatch between education and labor market needs hinder access to decent work, impacting purchasing power and food security.

The FAO, in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture and funded by Denmark, is tackling this by promoting sustainable "green" jobs in the agrifood sector. The project strengthens youth skills, supports green enterprises, and engages various partners to empower young women and men in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. This fosters decent employment, builds resilience, and contributes to a sustainable agrifood system.
