Over the past 20 years, youth incarceration has plummeted by 75% as states closed prisons and reformed policies. In her new book, *In Our Future We Are Free*, journalist Nell Bernstein dissects this transformation. She chronicles the forces that moved us from a "moral panic" to a time when youth prisons are rapidly fading.
Bernstein's book highlights the pivotal role of imprisoned youth, mothers, activists, and even prison officials in challenging the "racist brutality of youth prisons" and closing institutions. Join Nell Bernstein and moderator Chesa Boudin to learn how this coalition reformed a "racist and destructive institution" and what other social movements can learn from their struggle.

"We don't just see a seed, a product; it's a way to preserve our life," states Luz Ramos of Peru's Youth Network for Agrobiodiversity. Family farming across the country protects our agrobiodiversity. In 2026, FAO will celebrate the #YearOfTheWomanFarmer, recognizing generations of women who have sustained life from the earth. Celebrating these farmers means celebrating the life that grows from the soil and reaches our tables. #IYWF2026

With nearly a third of global food production lost or wasted annually, the FAO supports solutions for resilient, equitable food systems. A key strategy involves short distribution circuits, connecting producers and consumers to encourage sustainable consumption.
In Tunisia, FAO aids Tunis and La Goulette municipalities in a strategy to prevent, reduce, and manage food loss. This includes a sustainable short distribution circuit, valorizing unsold produce via solar drying, vacuum packaging, and composting, alongside practical demonstrations.
