Clearcuts and Salmon in the Oregon Coast Range

Industrial logging in Oregon's coastal mountains has replaced old-growth forests with monocrop plantations, releasing greenhouse gases, decimating biodiversity, and severely harming rivers through pollution and habitat destruction. This environmental degradation contributes to a severe crisis for salmon and steelhead across Washington, Oregon, and California.

Hundreds of salmonid populations have been destroyed, and remaining ones are critically endangered, with Pacific salmon numbers down by 98-99%. Urgent action is vital for their survival: protect forests by stopping industrial logging, remove dams and restore aquatic habitats, halt commercial fishing and pollution, and stabilize global warming.

What Happens to Recycled Clothes?

Recycling old clothes often isn't the sustainable choice it appears. Investigations reveal many "recycled" garments are transported globally, ending up in landfills and polluting communities.

Journalists, using tracking devices, found clothes from recycling bins accumulating in dumps worldwide. In Moldova, a second-hand shop owner discards 45% of donations, while a local landfill manager reported 50 meters of buried textile waste. This waste pollutes water, impacting residents like Irina, who uses it for her family. For more information, visit journeyman.tv/film/8396.
