Saving Endangered Red Wolves

Fewer than 25 red wolves remain in the wild, with five killed by vehicle strikes this year alone in North Carolina. These devastating losses, including that of two-year-old Muppet, highlight the urgent need for a wildlife crossing to protect this endangered species.

A generous donor has pledged a $2 million match for a Red Wolf Wildlife Crossing Fund. However, we must raise an additional $2 million in matching funds by August 31st to secure crucial federal funding for its construction.

Help secure a safer future for red wolves. Join the campaign and contribute today: biologicaldiversity.org

Eastern Indigo Snake Slithering Through the Pines

Pine rocklands, an endangered South Florida ecosystem, shelter protected species like Key deer and Florida bonneted bats. Facing threats from urban development and sea-level rise, their survival is vital. Learn more and help save this habitat at saveourpinerocklands.org.

That's Wild: Marmoset Names

New research in *Science* reveals marmoset monkeys use individual "phee calls" to identify each other. These South American primates live in monogamous family groups, raising young communally. This social structure suggests they faced evolutionary challenges similar to early humans, offering insights into our own communication development.

The Center for Biological Diversity, a Tucson-based 501c3 nonprofit, links human welfare to biodiversity. We use science, law, and creative media to protect species, lands, waters, and climate, securing a wild future. Visit biologicaldiversity.org for more, including social media links and action alerts. Bottom Trawling Devastating Arctic Seas

Bottom trawling rapidly obliterates centuries-old marine habitats, destroying ancient coral forests and indiscriminately capturing thousands of fish, crustaceans, and other marine life. These massive nets, large enough to engulf a 747 jet, tragically trapped and killed six killer whales last year alone.

The Center for Biological Diversity is working to end this destructive practice. Through litigation, policy advocacy, and pushing for no-trawl zones, they protect vulnerable species and habitats while raising public awareness.

Join us to end this destruction: act.biologicaldiversity.org

Ocelot Spotted in New Arizona Location

The Center for Biological Diversity recently released stunning trail-camera footage of a rare wild ocelot in Southern Arizona, within ancestral Tohono O’odham Nation homelands. Protected under the Endangered Species Act since 1982, fewer than 100 ocelots remain in the U.S., with a crucial population in Arizona. Learn more about ocelots on our website.

The Center for Biological Diversity is a Tucson-based 501c3 nonprofit. We believe human welfare is deeply linked to nature's diversity. Through science, law, and creative media, we work to secure a future for all species by protecting the lands, waters, and climate they need to survive.
