Ecological restoration is challenging, with many advanced technologies being costly and complex. However, effective, low-tech "old school" methods have been successfully employed by land managers for decades.

Dr. Elise Gornish, a UA restoration ecologist, will share these accessible techniques, from seed balls to rock lunas, for restoring disturbed ecosystems. Her work focuses on arid land restoration and integrating approaches into weed management. She also directs UA GALS, a program offering STEM leadership to underserved female high school students.
