Inspiring empathy through reading by Angela Chen

Angela has been a student at Nanjing International School for almost thirteen years. Self-diagnosed with a serious case of obsessive reading disorder, books have become a home to her as much as Nanjing. At TEDxYouth@NIS, Angela will be sharing stories and results from her recent project exploring the use of fiction to teach empathy to local Chinese school children and her realization that empathy is not taught, but inspired. In her talk, she will examine how children’s books can be used to gently deliver the spark of empathy that will one day grow into a wildfire.
